Halloween Night

Halloween night finally came and went. Tammy and I took Haley, Mikayla, Cara and Brayden around our neighborhood. We missed Sydney, she was not feeling well and stayed home with her dad to hand out candy. Brayden was in charge of collecting candy for her. He did a good job at first and then retired to the stroller to get pushed around. This was his first time out trick or treating, he was a puppy dog. Brayden loves doggies, as he calls them, he watches them and barks like them too! Anyway, I thought it only appropriate for him to dress up like one, he even barked a couple of times for us! He went to the first couple of neighbors homes and said tick or treat, he even said thank you but I am pretty sure he had no idea what was really going on. I did not let him eat any of the candy except the suckers, which he loves.

Funny story of the night...
Haley, Mikayla and Cara went up to a home, knocked on the door and waited, a guy answered the door (not dressed up) and began handing out candy. Tammy and I were waiting on the sidewalk when we heard Mikayla say "why do you have earrings on?" the guy responded with something like "I don't know", Mikayla did not let up and continued with "boys are not suppose to wear earrings" and then the guy responded with "some wear earrings". Then Cara said as cute as could be, "Pirates wear earrings", the guy said, "ya, pirates are cool". Again Mikayla would not let up and as she ran to the next home she yelled "mom, that boy had earrings on!"

The Great Pumpkin
We heard about The Great Pumpkin this year! Up until now we had no idea that if you leave candy outside your door The Great Pumpkin would come and take the candy and replace it with small gifts. We decided to try it. We dumped all the candy out on the floor and everyone picked 10 pieces of candy to save. We took all the rest of the candy and put it back in the pumpkin basket. Before the girls went to bed they were able to put it outside the door for The Great Pumpkin. As I was putting the girls to bed, Mikayla got worried that The Great Pumpkin would take our pumpkin basket as well as the candy. She wanted me to leave a note for the Great Pumpkin asking him not to take the pumpkin basket! All night they woke up wondering if the candy was gone, that was the first thing Mikayla asked when she woke up in the morning. So, right away before we did anything else we went downstairs and opened the door to find the candy gone and presents in the pumpkin basket. Mikayla was relieved to see the pumpkin basket still there. I can not write just how excited Haley and Mikayla were. They could not believe it. The Great Pumpkin had left, the Tinkerbell Movie and Soundtrack and 2 little Mickey Mouse cars. Honestly, I think they were more excited that he came then the actual gifts! Thank you Sydney for letting us know about The Great Pumpkin!
